Wisbey Veggies was founded over 35 years ago by Bruce and Joy Wisbey, starting with a small roadside stand off the highway. As a husband-and-wife team, Bruce took care of the farming, while Joy managed the store. Over the years, the business grew into a larger country-style store, staying in its current location until 2015. That year, a devastating fire destroyed everything, leaving only their iconic truck standing. Following the fire, Joy decided to retire, and with crops still in the ground and no store, the produce was at risk of going to waste.

Michelle Campbell, who had worked for the Wisbey's for 8 years alongside her father Brian Eklund, who helped Bruce on the farm, offered to help salvage the season’s crops. Together, they built a small roadside stand to sell what remained. The stand exceeded expectations, and the business grew steadily. After a few years, Bruce decided to step back and retire, passing the farming responsibilities to Brian. Michelle and her husband, Sean, continued running the store for 7 years, with Michelle’s sister, Nicole Meredith, also helping out alongside the rest of their amazing staff.
Over the years, Michelle and Sean built strong connections, made wonderful new friends, and grew to love and serve the Yarrow community, just as Bruce and Joy had in the decades before.
In 2024, with the arrival of Michelle and Sean's new baby, they decided to make a career change. As Brian plans for retirement in the near future, Sean has been learning the ins and outs of farming from Bruce and Brian. Michelle is also transitioning to a new direction, and thus, a new chapter for Wisbey Veggies is about to begin in 2025.

With the support of the Wisbey, Eklund, and Campbell families, the Meredith family will be stepping in to carry on the tradition, providing the same welcoming environment you’ve come to love, along with some exciting improvements. We can’t wait to see you in June!

about the farm

We farm over 100 acres of land over the Sumas prairie that we mainly use for commercial farming of beets, cabbage and parsnips. However, for the store we also grow a number of different vegetables, our most famous being our super sweet corn!
